Blood Bowl Hobby Challenge: The Mudtown Mashers
(March 1, 2020 – March 31st 2020)
This is a two part hobby challenge (you can participate in one or both parts):
The Players: There are 12 orc players from the 2016 box set available to paint. The entry fee for this part of the challenge is $5 and is limited to one miniature per person on a first come, first served basis (2 Black Orcs, 2 Blitzers, 2 Throwers, and 6 Lineorcs). If you take one you must post the position taken in the hobby challenge Facebook thread so we can keep track of things and you are REQUIRED to return it by the deadline, as a random participant will be winning the entire team! That’s right, you’ve got a decent shot at walking away with a brand new, fully painted Blood Bowl team for participating in the first part of the Blood Bowl hobby challenge this month.
Should we run out of miniatures for those interested in participation, orc teams can have a maximum of 16 players so four more people could join in but would need to donate an appropriate miniature. To thank them for this, they would be entered into a special raffle for a signed and framed Pete Knifton print. Orcs teams can have 4 black orcs, 4 blitzers, as well as a troll, and 4 goblins on their roster (although you would be hard pressed to find an orc coach with more than one goblin so we will limit it to one). So, after the first twelve miniatures are taken additional participants could supply one of the following for the team (up to 2 additional black orcs, up to 2 additional orc blitzers, a blood bowl troll, or a blood bowl goblin).
The Rabid Fans: Blood Bowl wouldn’t be what it is without its rabid fanbase. Spectators regularly intervene during a match via invading the pitch, throwing rocks, or maiming players unfortunate enough to be surfed off the pitch and into the crowd. To celebrate that aspect of the game, we wanted to make the second part of the challenge surround fan/spectator models. This is a chance to fully unleash your creativity! Supply and paint any model that you think would represent a rabid member of Mudtown Nation. Participation in this part of the challenge has an entry fee of $5 and a model. Every participant that supplies a model can choose whether they want to donate it to the winner of the Mudtown Mashers team or have it returned to them after the challenge. Those that donate a miniature will be entered into a special raffle for a signed and framed Pete Knifton print. There will be two votes on this section of the challenge: Fan Favorite and Best Painted.
Fan Favorite votes should factor in the sculpt/conversion/miniature chosen
Best Painted votes should focus on the quality of the paint job
The Mudtown Mashers Color Scheme:
In order to have the winner take home a team with a cohesive look, a color scheme for the Mashers has been selected inspired by the Gridiron Database (Google it if you ever need inspiration for a Blood Bowl team color scheme). Note the pattern for helmet stripes and leg stripes depicted below if you are up to the challenge (don’t put the word Browns on your Masher though). While locked into these team colors, participants do have freedom when it comes to orc flesh tones, metal, blood or mud splatter, and of course the fan/spectator portion of the hobby challenge. Orc player models will be supplied primed with Citadel Colour Grey Seer Contrast Undercoat. Griff Hound Orange and Wildwood contrast paints from GW will be available in the shop for use in the challenge should you need them.
The Glittering Prizes:
The Mudtown Mashers team and any donated fans/spectators will be given to a random participant in the first part of the challenge (those that painted a team member)
Thanks for Voting: Store Credit of $5 to a random voter so put your name on the back of those ballots. Voting will be the first two weeks of April.
Best Painted: Store Credit Half of Remaining Pot
Fan Favorite: Store Credit Half of Remaining Pot
Donated a Miniature to the Cause: Raffle for a framed and signed print by Blood Bowl’s legendary artist, Pete Knifton!
