The Front Row View: The Poseidon Adventure

“Dead ahead—-an enormous wall of water heading right toward us!!” One of my favorite Movie Guilty Pleasures is Irwin Allen’s 1972 production of The Poseidon Adventure—-movie post of the day #2 (forewarned—there might be many of these). Deliriously over-the-top acting by an all-star cast (headed by Gene Hackman and Ernest Borgnine—both hammy but enjoyable) along with then-state-of-the-art-special effects (some have dated well, some not so much) combine to create a rich stew of entertaining hokum. The perfect flick to watch on New Years Eve (’cause guess when the monster wave hits the ship?). Watch it with a roomful of friends, you won’t be disappointed!
